Recently, when I was browsing some products of the same e-commerce platform, I saw some comments mentioning the problem of silicone covers for water cups. After some water cups were purchased and used, they found that the silicone covers on the outside of the water cups began to become sticky and powder fell off. What exactly is this? What causes it?
Please forgive me for my habit of frequently visiting the stores of my peers, especially reading the comment sections. Because some of the responses from customers made people laugh, which shows that these customers who sell water cups really don’t understand the product or the properties of the material.
First, I’ll copy some of the responses from water cup store customers for everyone to see:
“This is a normal phenomenon and will not affect use.”
“Boil it in high-temperature water, boil it for a while and then dry it.”
“Use detergent to wash and rub repeatedly, then rinse thoroughly.”
“Dear, did you put glue or other sticky substances on the silicone cover? This usually does not happen.”
“Dear, we support 7 days of no-reason returns and exchanges. If it does not exceed this time, you can return it.”
“Dear, if you feel bad about the silicone cover, just throw it away. The silicone cover is a gift from us, and the water cup is very good.”
After seeing such a reply, the editor just wanted to say that if consumers are laymen, they will be deceived by two knives pretending to be experts.
The phenomenon of sticky silicone sleeves and powder falling off is caused by the following situations:
First of all, the materials are shoddy, and recycled materials or inferior silicone materials are used in the materials. This is mostly the reason why the products become sticky and fall off.
Secondly, production management was not done well, and production was not produced according to the production standards required by the specifications, including production temperature requirements, time requirements, etc. Some factories lowered production standards to shorten production time and increase production capacity because of tight order delivery times.
Finally, the consumer’s use time has indeed exceeded the service life of the silicone sleeve, which is easier to understand. There is another possibility, but it is very rare, that it is caused by the environment in which consumers use silicone. Places with high acidity and high humidity will accelerate the degeneration of silicone and cause it to become sticky and fall off.
